Groups

Groups covers the small groups, ministry teams, and gatherings your members belong to, each with its own leader and roster.

Creating a group

FieldNotes
NameRequired.
DescriptionOptional.
LeaderOptional. Chosen from active members.
StatusActive or Inactive.

Managing the roster

Open a group to see its roster and add members to it directly from the group's page, or add a member to a group from that person's own profile under the Groups tab. Both do the same thing, use whichever is more convenient at the time.

Departments vs. Groups

Groups and Departments work the same way structurally, a name, an optional leader, and a roster, but are meant for different things: Departments for the operational teams that run church activities, Groups for the smaller, ongoing communities your members are part of.

Group-scoped access

A staff member can be granted access limited to a single group, rather than every group in your organization. That access follows the roster: they see and manage the members on that group's roster, not the whole directory. See Roles & Access for how to assign it.
